Chris Colborn

EVP, Global Chief Experience Officer

Bio

As Global Chief Experience Officer, Chris excels at creating unique insights and innovating through technology. Acting as a bridge between business, design, and technology, he’s responsible for enacting R/GA’s vision to create meaningful differentiation in an increasingly commoditized world. By identifying promising white space and anticipating the impact of technology adoption, Chris is able to align client business goals with unmet customer needs to reinvent categories and introduce novel and differentiated experiences. This is especially true where product and services blur with marketing, creativity becomes inseparable from technology, and brand and business strategy converge.

With 25+ years of academic and professional experience in global economics, creative arts, and software engineering, Chris drives the development and integration of R/GA offerings to continuously transform the business. His current focus is experience innovation and product development, often leveraging the company’s mobile, social, data visualization, and brand development practices in concert with that development.

Since joining R/GA in 1998, Chris has held a variety of posts in which he’s helped grow the company both strategically and creatively, including EVP Worldwide Creative Director and VP of Interaction Design. In these roles he was responsible for leading the company’s global accounts and helping build out both the systematic and experiential design aspects for the creative department.

Prior to R/GA, Chris acted as VP of Online Services at Byron Preiss Multimedia Company, where he pioneered virtual entertainment services and hybrid web/CD-ROM games in partnership with major media brands. Before that, he worked at Science Applications International Corporation, designing and developing interactive experiences for touchscreen kiosks and first-generation websites.

Passionate about travel, Chris spends much of his time working and lecturing across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He is fascinated by technology adoption and its impact on life and business—and especially animated about original branded ecosystems that establish new forms of customer value and habitual engagement, while generating ongoing streams of earned media.
