As VP, Executive Creative Director, R/GA London, James leads the creative department and general direction of the agency alongside the MD, Jim Moffatt. Since the inception of R/GA’s London office in 2006, James has been a driving force, leading the business from a team of five people initially serving the Nokia global marketing account to a team of over 100 people operating across 14 industry-leading brands including Aston Martin, the BBC, Nokia, Nike, O2, and Pearson.
James provides strategic direction and thought leadership across all agency accounts, working with a multidisciplinary team of copywriters, interaction designers, and visual designers—an entrepreneurial group of digital disruptors who are passionate about creating new technologies that fit into people’s lives. This group conceives digital products that have been acknowledged at the highest level, receiving a Cannes Gold Lion and a Webby for innovation and industry best awards for retail, mobile, design, and innovation.
He previously served as Design Director at Electronic Ink in the U.S. and U.K., leading a creative team that pioneered the design of user interfaces for clients including Bank of America, the BBC, Microsoft, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Reuters, and Wyeth. At Electronic Ink he led the interface design for one of America’s first online banking solutions as well as the trade floor order management system for the NYSE. He also established a design and usability department for a Fortune 100 client. Before Electronic Ink, he worked as a design consultant within the IBM Toronto Media Design Studio, creating desktop and web-based interfaces for internal and external business clients.
