Agency creates bespoke ‘Accelerated Mobile Pages’ to showcase bespoke visual stories about the mission via Google search
London, July 26, 2019 – R/GA London, the company that creates transformation at speed, is pleased to announce it has collaborated with the world's largest museum and research complex, the Smithsonian, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing by creating a unique series of new Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). This mobile-first campaign was created to bring the incredible and iconic collection of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum to life through an innovative use of visual stories. The campaign is live in the US through Google search, with further global rollouts planned later in the year.

In collaboration with the Smithsonian, R/GA London wrote, designed and built a series of Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) which appear in search under the title ‘visual stories’. AMP is a relatively new platform that showcases Google search content in a ‘stories’ format, allowing users to see content from the Smithsonian about the mission in a much more interactive and visual way. Users can enter a space-related query, such as ‘Apollo 11 mission’ on their mobile device and will then be able to see visual stories from the Smithsonian about the mission, the spacecraft, and the people who made it possible. These full screen, tappable visual stories feature photos, videos and information about the space journey.
